Check in: Week 7

Oops. I didn't post last week. Lest you think that means that we stopped, WE HAVEN'T! In fact we are still going strong in our "Battle of the Bulge 2013".

I just didn't really want to post anything last week cause I was sort of recuperating from not being home.

Let's dive in shall we?

Last I told ya'll, we had paid off one credit card and were on the way to getting the next taken care of. Since then, we have paid an additional $669.19! Not all of that went to the credit card, we took advantage of the fact that March had 3 paychecks in it and made additional payments on both my student loan and our car. I think (fingers crossed) that we will knock out the second credit card this month and then start making headway on our car!! If all goes like we hope it will, we will have that sucker paid off in 6-ish months!

As far as weight loss goes, its a slow but steady battle. We have lost a total of 24 pounds in this house! And in fact, we have both lost 5% of our starting body weight! I'm hoping to round out 15 pounds by the end of this month (considering its only the second week of the month, I think this is a totally attainable goal.)

I have discovered there are quite a few snacks I like to enjoy, as well as a couple of meals that we have tried that have been pretty good. Maybe this week I'll share one or two of them.

I am starting to get used to not having a car. Sometimes its a total drag but for the most part, its not so bad. My home confinement really helps me cut back on our spending. I feel like when I say that I sound like I was some kind of shop-a-holic. I'm not, and I wasn't but when I leave the house just leave, inevitably I ended up at a store and when I'm at a store, I will always find something to buy. Not leaving has almost entirely cut those purchases out. I even got a couple little projects done (amidst the huge kitchen cabinet redo) and my little house is looking cuter every day! I'll post some pictures of the things that have been keeping me busy sans-car.

Liam is also this close to being potty trained. And I am this close to loosing my mind. But no kid ever graduated from high school without being potty trained who was capable of it, so I figure is has to click for Liam sooner or later. (please. please let it click.)

Darrell's class for school starts today and I am so proud of him for taking the plunge and getting his master's degree done! We still have 2.5 years of classes left but thats .5 closer than we were before he started! AND somehow he snagged a free book to boot. I'm not sure how that happened but YAY for being thrifty!

How about you? Have you checked any "to-do's" or accomplished any goals in the last two weeks? Share!

  2. So I quit sugar this week. Like all sugar...even artificial sweeteners. There are over FIFTY!!! names for sugar that manufacturers sneak in there. I'm still eating natural sugar so fruits are still an option. I found a few recipes for bread that use honey or molasses instead of sugar so I need to get some of that made. I'm just proud I've gone a whole three days without messing up! It's a serious miracle! Great job on your steady progress with everything!
