Another blankie
So I made another chenille blanket last week and finished the binding on Sunday. Now, having made two of these suckers I have a few words of advice. First, don't think of seeing the lines as sewing, think of it as quilting. For some reason that helped it not feel as tedious. Also, don't plan on finishing one in an hour. It isn't difficult, but it does take a little bit of a time commitment. Second, I wouldn't suggest cutting all your fabric the same size before you start your quilting. Unless your some kind of quilting master with the ability to keep fabric from shifting, it's gunna shift. Flannel shifts much less than quilting weight cotton though. Third, I still don't think the nifty little cutter is necessary though it would make the cutting faster. And last, I've seem suggestions to clip your top layers about an inch or do in then bind, then cut the rest of the way. I did that the first time. The second time I just cut my top layers all the way across before binding and it worked just fine and saved me some time. Anyway, those are just my thoughts on the chenille quilts, take it or leave it :) this quilt is for another cousin, Kara who is having a little boy "monster" of her own in July... I think... I was supposed to give it to her last weekend at her baby shower and had every intention of finishing it before I went but totally ran out of thread and wasn't able to get to the store before I had to leave. So, sorry Kara!!! But here is a little peak at the blanket and it will be in the mail soon!!! I hope you love it!!!
